Fraudulent emails claiming to be from Girobank reported!

Girobank would like to warn you of fraudulent Phishing emails that are in circulation. Phishing criminals are asking emails recipients to share their online banking login information. We have detected emails in various languages and copies of our homepage.

To combat this Phishing epidemic Girobank is trying to trace these emails and website links as quickly as possible. We do this to maintain our high security standards by applying regular updates to our servers and websites. However these Internet criminals always find ways to manipulate and copy information for malicious use.

To avoid becoming a victim of a Phishing scam, Girobank would like to give the following tips.

  • Girobank would never request your account number(s) or other sensitive personal information by email
  • Immediately report or forward any suspicious email to our fraud department
  • If you have responded to a suspicious email, contact us right away so we can protect your account and your identity
  • Never give out your personal or financial information in response to an unsolicited phone call, fax or email, no matter how official it may seem
  • Do not respond to emails that may warn of dreadful consequences unless you validate your information immediately
  • Contact Girobank to confirm the email's validity using a telephone number or Web address you know to be genuine
  • Check your credit card and bank account statements regularly and look for unauthorized transactions, even small ones. Some thieves hope small transactions will go unnoticed. Report discrepancies immediately.
  • When submitting financial information online, look for the padlock or key icon at the bottom or in the address line of your Internet browser. Most secure Internet addresses, though not all use "https".
